ThreadWare User Guide

Governance

Risks at company level rather than machine level - legal, financial, reputational, strategic. The ones a board or executive committee wants to see on one page.

You only see what you have been given access to

ThreadWare is built from modules - Sales, Production, Quality and so on. An administrator gives you a role in each module, for each company you work in. The menu is built from those roles. So if something in this guide is not in your menu, it has not been given to you yet. Ask your administrator, or log a support ticket. To see what you currently hold, click your initials in the top right and choose My Access & Roles.

How this differs from Risk / Incident Management

Risk / Incident ManagementGovernance
Something that happened, or could happen, on the floor. Something that threatens the business as a whole.
A guard missing from a machine. A chemical spill. A near miss. A contract exposure. A compliance gap. A key-person dependency.
Reported by anyone, worked by responders. Raised and managed by managers, watched by the executive.

If in doubt, ask: would this be on a board agenda? If yes, Governance. If it needs somebody with a spanner, Risk / Incident Management.

Can I use it?

RoleWhat you can do
Governance Manager Report and manage governance risks.
Executive Committee Member Executive visibility of governance items. This role also opens a wide view across other modules for reporting.
Governance Admin Administer everything in the module.

Where to find it

Menu ▸ Governance Management

Menu itemWhat it is
View Governance ListThe main list of governance risks.
Report Governance RiskRaise a new one.
Governance Reporter ViewThe list as a reporter sees it.
Governance Admin ViewThe full administrative view.
List RisksA simple flat list, handy for printing or scanning.
Risk TypesMaintain the governance risk type list. Needs Governance Admin.

Raising a governance risk

  1. Open Report Governance Risk.
  2. Choose the risk type. Governance has its own separate type list from the operational module.
  3. Describe the risk, its likelihood and its potential impact.
  4. Assign an owner - somebody senior enough to actually do something about it.
  5. Submit.

After that, keep adding updates as the position changes. A governance risk with no updates for six months tells the board nothing.

Reports and export

The list screens have an Export to Excel button on the toolbar, which includes the filter you had applied and the date the export was made - useful for pasting into a board pack.

Asking the assistant

Governance questions need no special role for the AI Assistant - results are filtered to your own sites and access level. Note that documents in the Governance category default to Confidential access, so a lower-level user will get governance list items but not the confidential paperwork behind them.
